In light of Pride Month, we have decided to share some of our experiences while being in countries that being LGBTQIA+ is actually against the law. We made it to Vietnam just in time to end 2023 and kick off 2024. We hope you enjoy our stories of exploring the Capital City and eating/drinking our way around as many places as we could.
A lyrical genius, a world traveller, a disgustingly talented pianist, a gritty South African, a truly fearless human being with a huge heart, and one of the few people we’ve been lucky enough to meet on our travels and have continuously stayed in touch with ever since… Who could it be?! ZONGOBOID!
Don Det - the place we turned up to with the intention of staying for a short visit but ended up extending thrice and staying two weeks. Here’s why!
Kayaking, tubing, zip-lining, paramotoring, off-road buggy-ing - you name it, we did it in Vang Vieng: the adventure capital of Laos!
Luang Prabang was the perfect introduction to Laos. Picturesque streets lined with beautifully preserved buildings, the river down in the valley with a backdrop of distant giant mountains, and the magnificent Kuang Si Waterfall - this city has it all.
How we crossed the Thai/Laos border, what it was like on board the slow boat, and advice for anyone wanting to take the same trip.
After swapping beaches for cities, and heading for the mountains, we fell in love with Chiang Mai, had the most chilled out time in Pai, and checked out Chalermchai Kositpipat’s quirky temple: Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai.
From the modern and very crowded City of Bangkok, to the calm, ancient City of Ayutthaya, one factor remained true for both: we weren’t short of temples to visit!
A two day treat away from the hustle and bustle of busy towns and cities, we spent time in the tranquil setting of Khao Sok National Park; a nature-lover’s paradise.
Beaches, hikes, sunsets and some pretty shoddy tours - welcome to Koh Phi Phi, the surrounding islands and all they have to offer.
We made it to the country we’d be spending our first full month in, and Thailand did not disappoint! From beautiful beaches to quaint boutique shops and craft beer bars, we felt right at home.
One country, two major cities, three islands, an abundance of wildlife, a melting pot of cultures and cuisines and a luxury resort. This is Borneo.

If you enjoy a circular hike with plenty of views, points of interest, and varying terrain, then you’ll love this route starting from Llangollen.
At least we can laugh about it now… Here we are sharing the trials and tribulations of our East-to-West hike along the ancient Roman Wall that we can no longer stand to look at.
Beinn Nibheis, or less-pretentiously written (unless you’re Scottish) and more commonly known as Ben Nevis… The mountain proudly standing tallest in the UK, with a summit of 1,345m above sea level. So, we climbed it.
Our hike in Cairngorms National Park was the first multi-day hike we did in Scotland, and it’s where we saw our first Loch! We finished work on the Friday night and set off with our packs on our backs, and excitement in our hearts.
A real-life, simplistic guide on how we’re powering our campervan.
